Year 6 Tours

We are pleased to announce that we will be able to conduct tours for Year 6 families from Monday 14th September 2020.  We think it is really important that Year 6 students and their families can look around secondary schools to help with the important decision about secondary education.  We also really enjoy meeting you all!  Due to Covid19, we have to enforce strict health and safety protocols to keep both visiting families and Wyvern St Edmund’s students and staff safe in line with Government guidelines.  We offer our sincere thanks for your understanding with this.

Families will either be toured individually or with one other family from the same primary school bubble.  We will only be able to take a maximum of three members per family, and a maximum of five per tour group due to the new regulations regarding a maximum of six meeting at a time.  A younger sibling will count as one person, irrespective of their age and we would encourage that younger siblings are not on the tour, if at all possible please.  The tour will be with a member of the Senior Team who will wear a face visor.  Any visitors touring must wear a face covering, unless they are currently exempt under Government guidelines.  The tours will be a maximum of 50 minutes and will avoid lesson changeover times.  Whilst you won’t be able to go into classrooms, you will be able to have a look into them through open doors and you will be able to see many of our excellent facilities, as well as soak up the wonderful WSE atmosphere.

We are aware that some families have already contacted the school with a view of touring.  Thank you for interest. Please could we ask that you ring the main reception (01722 328565) to book into an available slot.

During the phone call, you will be asked for your name, your child’s primary school, your contact phone number/s, your contact email and your preferred day/time so please do have that information to hand.  We will ask if your child has any SEND needs as it may be appropriate for our SENDCo, Mrs Rideout, to give you a tour so that you can ask specific questions about how we will support your child.  We will also ask you some Covid19 related questions such as whether any member of your household has presented with symptoms or is currently self-isolating.  Families currently affected by Covid19 but still wishing to tour must ensure they are clear of quarantine deadlines in line with Government guidelines.

Visitors will be asked to sign in and sanitise their hands at the main visitor reception.  The member of staff leading the tour will be pleased to answer your questions on the way round.  Please do not be offended if we have to gently remind you about social distancing. Please do keep an eye on our websites/social media platforms in case there are further updates due to Covid-19. Please check our websites on the day of your tour to ensure that we have not had to make an emergency closure.

We thank you again for your interest and very much look forward to meeting you.
