Religious Education

Key Stage 3

As the world shrinks due to ease of travel and communication we see a greater need to be able to understand, empathise and evaluate what motivates another person and their behaviour. RE allows us to look at how teachings, beliefs and even clothing and food can impact on a person’s daily life and decisions. We use class discussion, media interpretation, group work, research and analogies to try to make sense of the 6 religions with the largest followings around the world. Honing skills such as balanced arguments, reasoning and evaluation along the way.

In year 7, RE is covered through humanities lessons alongside History and Geography, where as in year 8 and 9 it separates out into an exclusive subject again.
