Activities Week Booklet 2020

Following the success of last year’s Activities Week, we are delighted to be able to launch the Wyvern St
Edmund’s Activities Week Brochure for July 2020. Activities Week will run from Monday 13th July to Thursday
16th July 2020.
Our school vision is to ensure that every child becomes the best version of themselves that they can be and an
important part of that is giving students opportunities to find their passions and talents in life. Activities Week
plays an important role in this vision and will provide your child with a wonderful opportunity to develop their
learning beyond the classroom. The aim of the week is to provide a variety of new and interesting
opportunities to help your child develop their social, emotional and cultural skills alongside sporting skills and
memorable life experiences. The committed staff at Wyvern St Edmund’s will lead the activities along with
other qualified professionals where necessary.
In order for your child to be allocated their chosen activity, it is essential that you adhere to the payment
deadlines. Some activities have a limited number of places and therefore allocation will be decided on a
random selection basis. In the unfortunate situation that a student’s first choice is unavailable, we will
endeavour to offer their second choice activity, therefore it is essential that all students think seriously about
their choices to avoid disappointment.
For those activities which have a cost attached we ask parents/carers for a financial contribution. If it is not
possible to cover the cost of the activity, it will not be possible for the trip to run. Some activities are
residential, others may be day trips or school-based activities. Please note that at this stage prices are
calculated based on maximum numbers shown. Final costings will be published when choices are processed
and before any deposit is taken. It is essential that your child is entirely committed to the activity chosen
because they will not be allowed to change once the booking form is handed in. Some activities require a good
level of physical fitness, so please ensure that your child is aware of their chosen activity’s requirements. When
considering the suitability of an activity for your child, please carefully consider the activity description
contained in the Activities Week Brochure. Once your child’s place is confirmed, the group leader will send you
the relevant forms and payment details (if any), including a medical consent form to complete and return.
For residential activities, the group leaders will hold an information evening prior to departure. Further
information regarding this evening will follow in due course.
